This scene continues my fascination with the trolleys in uptown near my office. The maintainance facility is right across the street and each morning the workers stage up the trolleys for the days departure. Each morning there is a mini traffic jam creating tension. I tried to reflect that tension in this scene. I entered this painting along with “Vanilla Ice Cream and “Loading Up” in the 2011 Texas and Neighbors Regional Exhibition competition.

“the Arts Neighborhood, the Centers of Interest”.

This watercolor painting is  a new format size of 9 2/3″x28″ for me and it was a new world trying to fit a composition into a long horizontal rectangle. The scene is on Ross Ave., looking south. My goal is “How my art work relates to the Catholic Foundation Plaza and the Arts District”. I named this painting “the Arts Neighborhood, the Center of
Interest”. This is an accumulation of my life experiences growing up and living in Dallas, regularly attending ART District exhibitions and performances, and attending and being confirmed at Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe. We attended the broadway play “Superman” at the Wiley last month, which was my 4-year-old grandson’s first live performance.
